Wrestling the Bull

bull_edited.jpg

As I take a new direction with my career, I sometimes feel that I am having an out-of-body experience. Some days I wake up, coffee in hand (of course) and declare that "this is easy, life is at my fingertips just waiting for me to take a bite." Other days, I feel my heart clamp up, my breath become labored and I wonder, "What the f*ck am I doing?"

My devotion to my yoga practice (on and off the mat) has solidly instilled that this is MY life. I refuse to believe that I don't know how to live it. I may not know exactly where I am going, but I do know that the only way I will fail is if I compromise fully living each day.

I continue to show up on my mat every day so that I can be braver. It also gives me the opportunity to shed old programming that I have about what I should be doing, comparisons to others and any misguided notions that perfection is pretty.

It doesn't have to be your yoga mat, just find an outlet to soften your shell. Someone or something that reminds you that anything is possible with time, dedication and a wide-open heart.

Throughout the next year, I plan on taking life by her horns...sometimes I will need to wrestle with her and sometimes we will just sweetly hug each other. I know that whether I get bucked or snuggled it is worth it because I only have this one life to fully live.
